Waltloo Substation will remain offline until repairs done

The City of Tshwane says the Waltloo Substation will remain offline until repairs to the burnt transformer are completed.

The outage has left affected power supply to car manufacturer Ford's main plant, Brandwag substation, all Silverton extensions, Waltloo Industrial, and N4 Gateway since Wednesday.
The city said it had so far restored power at Phumulani and Koedoespoort substations following a fire incident at the Waltloo Substation.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said technicians were working to restore power at the Pyramid and Rooiwal Substations.
"The Waltloo Substation will regrettably remain offline until repairs to the burnt transformer are completed. The work at the substation is likely to take two days or more to be completed, due to the complexity of the repairs to be effected.
"The estimated time of restoration is still not known," he added.
