[WATCH] Fikile Mbalula lays charges against Somizi
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has laid charges against entertainer and celebrity Somizi Mhlongo.
Mbalula opened a case against Somizi at Sandton Police Station on Friday morning.
The charges relate to a video in which Mhlongo said Mbalula confirmed the extention of the national lockdown to him before it was officially announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Speaking to media outside the police station, Mbalula said he was very disappointed at the turn of events.
“But nonetheless it is not something that is insurmountable that cannot be attended to. The law will do the right thing and the investigation will look at what happened.”
I did not discuss the lockdown timeline or extension plans with Mr Mhlongo at all whatsoever, my conscience is clear.
