[WATCH LIVE] Mboweni unpacks sweeping Covid relief measures
Finance Minister Tito Mboweni will brief the media following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of continued support measures for South Africans amid the continuing Covid-19 impact on the economy.
The address follows turbulent weeks in the country’s history after the economic effects of the pandemic were compounded by unrest in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Joined by National Treasury executives, Mboweni is expected to speak on the extension of the R350 special Covid grant and the deferment of payment of Pay-As-You-Earn taxes to provide businesses with additional cash flow.
He’s also expected to give further details about the deferment of the payment of excise taxes by the alcohol sector.
