Severe thunderstorms are possible over parts of the North West, Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. 

Friday's weather

Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the north-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo as well as the Limpopo Valley. 


Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

Mpumalanga: Very hot in Lowveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers on the high ground from the afternoon but scattered in the extreme south-west.

Limpopo: Very hot in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the Southern central and south-western parts from the afternoon.

North West: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north-east.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the south.

Northern Cape: Cloudy in the west at first where it will be cool in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east and extreme east.

Western Cape: Warm over the eastern interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but cloudy with isolated light showers and rain in the west in the morning as well as along the south coast at times. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly, becoming westerly to south-westerly along the south coast by the late morning and west coast by the afternoon.

Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and warm to hot but cool along the coast and adjacent interior where it will become cloudy from the afternoon with isolated showers and rain.


Port Elizabeth: 12 / 22


KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the west and south. It will be cool in places in the south-east where it will become cloudy from the late afternoon.
