Gilliland laid bare how the brothers had allegedly used their influence to score government contracts.

He says the same company, registered under different names in the government systems, started to receive payments from 2004.

The last payment was made in July 2018.

Presiding officer, Vincent Maleka, drew the commission’s attention to the Free State provincial government which paid the companies close to R80 million.

In total, the country’s premiers spent R113 million with former Free State Premier, Ace Magashule, topping them with R53 million.
