Former president Jacob Zuma is expected to land back in Johannesburg on Saturday after receiving treatment overseas for an undisclosed illness.
Zuma is set to land at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday morning.
ANC veteran and leader of the so-called Gauteng Radical Economic Transformation (RET) Carl Niehaus believes thousands of supporters will welcome the 77-year-old back in the country.
“President Zuma has always been a very accessible politician, there is no intention to close it for members of the public.”
Zuma was issued with a warrant of arrest after failing to appear in the Pietermaritzburg High Court in February and faces the possibility of being arrested if he fails to appear in court in May.
His lawyers said Zuma had been receiving medical treatment overseas, but questions were asked of the sick note provided by his legal team.

Niehaus says Zuma’s health has improved and they are currently arranging his return.
“He is in good spirits, he had undergone treatment, he is better and stronger.”
