Zuma has until 30 November to tell NPA why he shouldn't face corruption charges
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has given President Jacob Zuma until 30 November to make representations about why corruption charges against him should not be reinstated.
This comes after the Supreme Court of Appeal earlier this month ruled that the decision to drop 783 charges against the president was irrational.
NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku says the representations will be made through the president's legal team.
"The National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shaun Abrahams, consulted with the acting head of the Hawks, Yolisa Matakata, and the investigating officer to establish the availability of witnesses and any documentary evidence," he explains.
It had been agreed upon that they would need 30 days to establish the availability of the 218 witnesses.

However, constitutional law expert Pierre de Vos says it's abnormal for an accused to make such representations.
An accused has no right to have his representations considered by NDPP. This is a favor Abrahams is doing for President Zuma. https://t.co/yY4tn5shqP
