Zuma supporters waiting for #OccupyLuthuliHouse protesters
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Security is tight in front of the ANC's headquarters - Luthuli House - in the Johannesburg CBD.
A group saying it will defend President Jacob Zuma, has gathered at the entrance to the building, waiting for the leaders of the #OccupyLuthuliHouse campaign, who will deliver a memorandum demanding the resignation of the president and the ANC's top leaders.
Members of the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVMA) are among those protecting the home of the ruling party.
Emotions and tensions have been running high since early this morning, leading to the #OccupyLuthuliHouse leaders calling on its supporters to rather stay away - fearing for their safety.
ANC Youth League President Collen Maine is there, saying they will defend Luthuli House.
One ANC supporter says some members of the party are not following proper procedures in their call for President Zuma to resign.
Ishmael Mofokeng says they are there to defend Luthuli House.
"Some other members of the ANC believe that Jacob Zuma made some mistakes. Yes, we have seen things that were not good, but we want all the members to follow the procedure and not just to do things like this," he said.
Meanwhile, #OccupyLuthuliHouse protestors have started gathering at Beyers Naude Square in Johannesburg. From there they plan to march to the ANC's headquarters.
