Malema also extended the invitation to former statesmen Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe.

Malema was speaking on the sidelines of the EFF’s  10th-anniversary celebration at the Zanele Mtshali Disability Home in Carltonville.

"If Zuma comes and joins the EFF, he will be more than welcomed. I think very soon I will go and see him. I must give him a form to join, the same I will give to President Mbeki and President Motlanthe because they are good citizens of the country,” says Malema.

Malema and Zuma have a long history – Malema was the ANC Youth League President under Zuma’s leadership of the governing party until his removal from the party in 2012, where after he founded the EFF and championed the fall of Zuma in 2018.

Even though Malema had a tumultuous time in Parliament with Zuma as a political opponent, he says it is not African to kick a man when he is down.

"I think Zuma has paid his dues, the highest form you can give to a sitting President is to make sure that they don't end their term in office, it is permanent punishment they will never stop talking about it,” he says.

"Mbeki still talks about it today, that's how painful that thing is. Having applied the highest form of punishment do you still want to kick them even if when they are down? That is not Africanism, that is not Ubuntu."
