Police are baffled by the robbery of two men minutes after they arrived home from OR Tambo International Airport, Captain Pinky Tsinyane said on Thursday.
"We are surprised by the way the robbery was carried out. Police are trying to find out how the robbers got information about their victims," she said.
Three men followed two Nigerians from the airport and attacked them shortly after they arrived at their home in Heidelberg on Thursday. They held them at gunpoint and robbed them of jewellery, cash and other valuables.
Patrolling police were alerted about the robbery and cornered the robbers on the N3. The stolen items were recovered.
Tsinyane said the investigation would hopefully reveal how the robbers got information about their victims, the flight and its arrival time and the men's car.
She said the three men arrested would appear in the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court on Friday on charges of armed robbery.
