Kaizer Chiefs have announced their intentions for next season in no uncertain style, the club confirming on Monday the signing of eight new players as well as a new assistant coach.

Heading the list is central defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who has reportedly signed a three-year-deal after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns expired. The former Moroka Swallows youth team product had been with Sundowns for six seasons, including one season on loan at AmaTuks.

At 26 years-old, he is only moving into the prime of his career, but has a huge amount of top flight experience under his belt, having made his PSL debut eight years ago.

Another potentially key signing for head coach Steve Komphela is Keagan Buchanan, the 25-year-old hard-working central midfield plotter, who will add craft and guile to the middle of the park. Buchanan arrives from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he excelled for the last three seasons.

Other players arriving from Premier Soccer League clubs include: Enocent Mkhabela (a holding midfielder formerly of SuperSport United and Platinum Stars) and Sibusiso Khumalo (a left-back who last played for SuperSport).

AmaKhosi have also delved significantly into the African market, adding two Zimbabweans from the Chicken Inn club to their squad (striker Michelle Katsvairo, 24, and midfielder Edmore Chirambadare, 26) as well as Zambian marksman Lewis Macha.

The other new arrival is Emmanuel Letlotlo, an exciting young striker from Soweto, who shone in the reserve league for Chiefs last season, scoring nine goals.

Meanwhile, there are some new faces in the technical team, including a new assistant coach in the form of John Paintsil, the former Ghana international who previously played for Maritzburg United and Santos, as well as for West Ham United in England. Other new technical team members include assistant physical trainer Marco Munhoz and goalkeeper coach, Alexandre Revoredo. Brian Baloyi will remain as part of the technical team.

The club also mentioned during their press conference on Monday that Togo marksman Camaldine Abraw is out injured and will be side-lined for nine months.
