The Proteas T20 management have released Morné Morkel and JP Duminy from the last the T20 international against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
Both players have been involved in all three formats of the tour, and have been sent home for some rest and recuperation ahead of the T20 series starting in South Africa next Wednesday against the same opponents.
"We have a busy six month period of cricket ahead of us culminating with the ICC World Twenty20 so it’s vital for us to manage workload and mental freshness at opportune moments, especially for the players that play in all three formats," commented Proteas team manager, Mohammed Moosajee.
"We’ve seen how fired up Dale (Steyn) has been since his rest so we may also need to look at following the same approach with a guy like AB (De Villiers) who is an important part of our senior player group.”
The pair will not be available for selection for their respective franchises in the final of the One-Day Cup taking place at Newlands on Friday.
