PSL action resumes after lengthy break
Updated | By ANA
The Absa Premiership is back this weekend after a near three-week break with seven matches on the schedule.
Top two Kaizer Chiefs and Lamontville Golden Arrows are both at home with Amakhosi set to host Ajax Cape Town in Durban on Saturday evening, while Abafana Bes’thende will welcome Chippa United to KwaMashu in the day.
Elsewhere in round six, third-placed Orlando Pirates travel to high-flying Polokwane City at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium and SuperSport United entertain Highlands Park at Lucas Moripe Stadium – those two matches taking place on Sunday.
In other Saturday matches, Free State Stars face Maritzburg United at the James Motlatsi Stadium, Cape Town City welcome Baroka FC to Cape Town Stadium and Platinum Stars play struggling Bloemfontein Celtic.
Dikwena captain Vuyo Mere is expecting a tight affair at Royal Bafokeng Stadium and has urged his team not to drop sill points as they had already done in some matches earlier this season.
“We want to collect as many points as we can at home,” he said.
“We have dropped some vital points in some of the games that we never thought we would lose. It shows the nature of the standard of our league. We can’t take anyone for granted this season.”
Meanwhile, Chiefs striker Edward Manqele concedes that the mood is upbeat at Naturena after they won three successive matches.
“That run has helped lift our confidence but then we have a two-week break that might obviously affect the momentum,” he stated. “However, I feel we must not drop but keep the focus and make sure that we continue from where we left off.”
