The FA Cup, the oldest club cup competition in the world, features heavyweight English clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

SABC Sport general manager Gary Rathbone says this is a breakthrough deal for the public broadcaster.

“SABC Sport is really excited about the fact that we can bring the FA Cup Final to all our sports fans across the country.

“It’s really one of the great iconic football tournaments around the world, it’s got a legendary history, players and teams and great cup moments and I’m sure we’re going to see a lot of those.”

The quarter-finals will be played this coming weekend.

Played at Wembley in London, the semi-final matches, and the final will also be broadcast by SABC Sport.

“It’s going to be a great tournament, some great action,” he adds.

The deal also included next season’s full FA Cup offering of 17 live matches and the Community Shield, which will kick-off the 2020/2010 Premier League season between the winners of the FA Cup and the Premier League champions.
