Semenya headlines Zurich 800m field
Updated | By ANA
South African 800 metre Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya will headline the Diamond League field in Zurich on Thursday.
Semenya will feature in a marquee race at the event with three other runners from the Rio 800m final also taking part.
Among Semenya’s competitors will be Britain’s Lynsey Sharp. After finishing sixth in the Olympic final, Sharp created a media storm as she said it was difficult to compete against Semenya.
The real battle should be for second place – Canadian Melissa Bishop or Margaret Wambui – as the fight for the bronze was close in Rio.
Semenya leads the Diamond League race standings in the 800m with 40 points from her four wins this season, with Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi second on 38 points.
