Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is engaged to Tim Tebow - and we are over the moon!

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters went from Sedgefield to Las Vegas, where she was crowned Miss Universe 2017. 

But where did it all start for her? 

She was crowned Miss Varsity Cup at Shimla Park in Bloemfontein in 2015, Miss South Africa in 2017, and then the ultimate title of Miss Universe that same year. 

It was on 26 November that the South African beauty’s hard work, perseverance, focus, and determination paid off.

The Business Management graduate is finally returning to South Africa for her official homecoming later in January and we thought it the perfect time to scroll through the archives. 

She will embark on a week-long celebration that will include visits to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Sedgefield.

Here’s a glimpse into Miss Universe 2017’s then and now – she’s always been a vision!

During her reign as Miss SA, Demi-Leigh celebrated her 22nd birthday by launching her Unbreakable campaign.

The Unbreakable campaign aims to educate, uplift, and empower South African women.

Her determination to make a difference didn’t stop there as Demi-Leigh prepared to travel to America to compete in Miss Universe. 

It was a proud moment for South Africans when she took the crown.

During her visit to South Africa later this month, she will host Unbreakable workshops in Soweto and Cape Town. She will also revisit victims of the Knysna fires who were beneficiaries of her fundraising efforts for disaster relief.

Nel-Peters says she is thrilled to officially return home: “I can’t begin to express my gratitude and how proud I am to represent our country as Miss Universe. Being a global ambassador is as much a responsibility as it is an honour.”

Her homecoming tour includes official welcomes at the OR Tambo and Cape Town International Airport, as well as a street parade in Sedgefield.

Demi-Leigh has reaffirmed the belief that anything is possible!
