WABetaInfo is a data service that shows you what WhatsApp features are being worked on and which will be released to the public.

Here are three features that you can keep an eye out for:

  1. Users might soon be able to choose a username. Others can search for you with your personalised username and the reliance on phone numbers will diminish. This is still in the testing stages so not yet fully confirmed.
  2. Email verification will be available to iOS users in the new update. This will help those unable to receive verification messages or calls to log into their account by using an email address instead of a phone number.
  3. Locked chats have only recently become a feature and now they have introduced a new update allowing users to access the option to lock a chat quickly. The new toggle shortcut can be found in the chat info making it easy and accessible.
