Certain areas in South Africa suffer more than others during winter.

We all know that Durban never experiences winter, but if you drive a short distance out of the city, you'll find certain spots that can get very chilly.
Some areas of the Western Cape see snow in the winter, but Cape Town is not known for its powder-puff snowfall.
In fact, it would be incredibly strange and uncommon.

Capetonians were recently shocked when they woke up to snow-covered roads!
One TikToker, @beemerstein, uploaded a video showing the thick patches of snow that have coated areas in Cape Town.

A truly unheard-of phenomenon for which many locals are not prepared.

While Cape Town doesn't reach Durban-level heat in the winter, snow rarely occurs in the city, which could also indicate how the climate crisis and the Earth's temperature influence weather.

However, some people were fighting in the comments, saying it was just hail.
Either way, the responses were hilarious.

- "Not Cape Tonians calling hail snow"
- "Guys come on, this dude knows its not snow, but knows how the algorithm works and you people are falling for it".
