Terminally ill girl has her dream wedding with best friend
Updated | By Charis Apelgren-Coleman
Eileidh Paterson from Scotland made a bucket list after she was diagnosed with terminal neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, and said the thing she most wanted to do was tie the knot with her best friend, six-year-old Harrison Grier.
This is a beautiful story, one that makes us remember how many people are out there fighting cancer and even on their worst days, they still let their light shine bright.
One such amazing person is five-year-old Eileidh. All this little girl wanted was to have a fairytale wedding. And she did.
The brave angel's dream came true this past weekend when the pair exchanged necklaces and were declared 'best friends for ever' in a poignant ceremony attended by family, friends, and a cast of costumed princesses and superheroes.
Other things on Eileidh's bucket list include swimming with mermaids, seeing real snow for the first time, being a zookeeper for a day, and a trip to Disneyland.
Eileidh is fighting neuroblastoma for the third time. She was first diagnosed in May 2014. Unfortunately, Eileidh's oncologist has said she will not survive long term. Even if they manage to get rid of these tumours, they will grow back again, but quicker, more aggressively and there are few treatment options left for her when that happens.
Her family has set up a gofundme page for those wanting to help Eileidh fulfill her bucket list.
