Keeping up with the rules of what you can and cannot take with you on a commercial flight can be quite tedious. Juice bottles, pets, and even some clothing items can get you into hot water with airport security.

But you have to wonder: is there anything that officials have not seen in luggage? After all, there are all manner of dodgy individuals travelling overseas these days.

The folks at The Infographics Show took it upon themselves to compile a list of the weirdest and most ill-advised luggage items people have ever tried to take onboard.

From illegal artifacts to stowaway animals, it is all here.

Some of the more mundane items on the list are:

  • An old cannonball
  • A chihuahua
  • A live lobster
  • A samurai sword

Can you believe there are people who, in attempts to bypass travel visa regulations, would stow their babies in their luggage?

And, while most people can empathise with someone losing a loved one, it is not likely that the other passengers on the flight would have been too comfortable with the knowledge that they were travellling with a corpse!

What is the strangest thing that you have ever gotten away with carrying in your in-flight luggage?
