How well do you know your traditional dishes?
Updated | By Bronwyn Hardick

Rian found some interesting "traditional" recipes in an old cookbook that belongs to him mom. Some of these dishes have extremely strange names and a round of "Boerekos Quiz" is played with comedian Mpho Popps and Jacaranda FM Naveen Singh to test whether people will know what he is serving them should he decide to go the traditional route on 29 May.
Have a listen to the hilarious guesses here:
Begrafnisrys (Funeral rice)
Yellow rice with raisins/currants
Boeremeisie (Farm girl)
Apricots cooked in sugar and water. Once cooked, Brandy is poured over the fruit.
Haksel
Prepared liver, heart, kidneys, pancreas cooked in red wine, minced and served on rice or bread.
Pofadder (Puff adder)
Intestine, heart, kidney and liver minced and stuffed into a sausage casing, and braai’ed
Waterskilpad (Water tortoise)
Vinegar pudding
Peertjies (Pears)
Sheep testicles
*Prepped and prepared by the masters of Boerekos from Boer’Geoisie restaurant.

COME DINE WITH MY CULTURE
TCB put out a challenge to SA to take part in a nation-wide dinner where you are required to do only two things: Invite somebody from a different cultural group over for dinner, and Talk. So far some impressive names have given their official RSVP to the #DinnerDateSA list...
In a nutshell, you are either required to play the host, or accept an invitation for dinner with a colleague, neighbour or family from within your community that is of a different race/culture to that of your own. The idea is to learn something new about each other through a night of conversation.
