Sleep paralysis: I thought I was going to die
Updated | By The Late Show
Sleep paralysis is the terrifying feeling of being held
down after just waking up.
The Late Show’s Carla Mackenzie thought she was going to die when she experienced it for the first time.
Sleep paralysis causes a temporary inability to move.
Your mind is awake but your body is still fast asleep. You’re conscious but unable to move.
And it’s actually more common than you think, with up to 50% of people having experienced sleep paralysis at some point in their life.
Carla recalls the horrifying and chilling feeling.
While most fear death when experiencing sleep paralysis, neurophysiologist from the Pretoria and Nelspruit Sleep Clinic, Peet Vermaak says it’s not dangerous.
