Noises co-workers make that drive us insane
We all have that one sound that drives us completely nuts when we hear it.
Sounds, particularly those made by other humans, have the potential to drive us crazy. In the workplace, it is very easy to get distracted by noises our co-workers make, from sniffing to humming to talking.
The popularity of open-plan offices has exacerbated the problem. The University of California's Center for the Built Environment completed a study that shows workers are happier when they are in enclosed offices and are less likely to take sick days.
If we all had the option to work from enclosed offices, we would probably take it.
