If you're happy and you know it... don't post on social media

A study has revealed that couples who always post on social media are less happy than those that don't post. The study was conducted by the University of Kansas and surveyed over 300 couples.

Relationships are known for their ups and downs. The natural ebb and flow pattern of good and not-so-good times is an expected reality.

But there are many people who live up to an esteemed lifestyle. A lifestyle that presents a particular picture.

And a large part of living up to this lifestyle is posting your life to social media.

Although this was once something we would just theorise, the University of Kansas decided to take on the study and dig deeper.

According to a study that was conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas, "couples who always post on social media are less happy than couples who don’t." (Instagram)

Shocking, we know!

The study included over 300 couples who were asked questions about their relationships and their social media habits.

"The researchers determined that couples who always post are more likely to compare their relationship to others. When you’re constantly seeing other couples’ happy moments and perfect pictures, it can be hard to not compare yourself. This can lead to feelings of jealousy and insecurity, which can be damaging to a relationship." (Instagram)

The study also revealed that couples who don't post on social media feel less pressure in their relationships.

They are also less likely to compare their relationships to others. The study concluded to a certain degree, that "couples who don’t post as often are more likely to be happy and authentic in their relationship." (Instagram)

Of course, the results are only based on a small test pool and cannot be conclusive, but it certainly is interesting to note the mentality of some couples who post on social media.
