You try to cancel your gym membership and get asked 21 questions

A person shares that they tried to cancel their gym membership as they were relocating, and the gym went so far as to ask them for a copy of their new lease agreement.

When it comes to getting yourself into a contract, the general consensus has always been to read the fine print

But even then, it can be quite ambiguous for many. So much so that when the time comes for signing on the dotted line, not many can firmly say that they have read the terms and conditions of their contract in full.

Nor can they say they fully understand the terms and conditions of their contract.

And in all honesty sometimes the pressure to sign from a salesperson can be overwhelming, which leads to certain people just signing without fully understanding.

If you're a gym buff and have entered into a gym contract, or should we say have tried to get out of a gym contract, then you will understand that these are as tight as the tension strings of the advance rowing machine.

As you can see, we are not gym buffs.

But we really were shocked when we heard about this gym cancellation. It felt like the gym people were trained by government officials and as if this gym member was trying to close a bank account, or worse ask for permission to leave the country.

It reminded us of that one episode on Friends where Ross and Chandler tried to end their gym memberships.

This poor person received this email after attempting to cancel their gym membership.

"How far will you be moving from a blink location?

Thanks for reaching out to us! We'd be happy to help with canceling your membership via email if you could please supply proof of your relocation, your member id, and your membership email.

Valid proof of relocation would include a lease agreement, utility bill, or a newly issued driver's license. Please scan and send the proof via email..." (Reddit)

Many people shared how they also have had difficulty getting out their gym memberships as well. The hoops they have had to go through seems far too serious for the nature of the contract.

But this is why, you always, always read the fine print. Because there is always something that you may have missed when signing a contract, and that's of any nature.
