Dr Kiera Noel’s pregnancy was an exciting time in her family’s life. She and her husband worked throughout their pregnancy and she felt well, although it was not completely uneventful.

Noel's young child was diagnosed with a rare type of anemia - Diamond-Blackfan anemia. Diamond-Blackfan anemia is a disorder that mainly affects bone marrow. People with this condition often also have physical abnormalities affecting various parts of the body.
