Bad news for those who don’t have any friends – being a loner is bad for your health.

In fact, having no friends has been proven so bad that it even compares to the damage smoking can cause to your health. Research carried out by University of York has found that loners have a higher chance of suffering from a stroke or heart disease, MSN reported.

“Our recent review, based on self-reports of social relationships, found that individuals who felt lonely or who were socially isolated had on average a 30 per cent increased risk of developing coronary heart disease or having a stroke,” Dr Nicole Valtorta told the publication.


Now go right ahead and make friends. They may just lead to you living a longer and happier life.
