GMA EXTRA 8 AUGUST 2016 (REGINA  JUNE 2016)

Our Winter Body winner, Regina Jonga has won her first body building competition!

RECIPIENT: Regina Jonga

BACKGROUND: Less than two months ago,  38-year old Regina Jonga won the Complimentary Breakfast Winter Body competition. She was born and raised in Zimbabwe, but left the country after a difficult divorce. She struggled to find employment in her native land and decided to cross the border to South Africa to provide for her mother and children in Zimbabwe.

Regina works as a domestic worker in Pretoria, but her passion is body building.  Despite living on a shoe-string budget in Mamelodi, she trained on her own and tried to enter competitions.

Under harsh conditions in a make shift gym, Regina was at times malnourished. She did not follow a body builder’s diet or used any supplements. On her own, Regina achieved supreme physical condition. She recently entered the Arnold Classic where she was placed 6th. This, according to those in the know, is unheard of for a person with her means and no help.

The organisers of the Arnold Classic heard about Regina and pitched in to help with great sponsorship's:  Wayne Price, President of Body Building SA and promoter of the Arnold Classic SA and his team sponsored a year’s gym membership for Regina at the Viva Gym in Mamelodi.

Erich Landsberg from BFSA Nutrition sponsored Regina with all the needed supplements to develop her body and keep her healthy for a year.

Marlene Koekemoer, International Federation of Body Building top pro-athlete in Women’s Physique undertook to take Regina under her wing and personally train her, mentor her and show her the pro body building ropes for the next year.

In less than two months, Regina has already won her first competition.
