Vuwani residents attend soccer tournament on Election Day
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
It is still very calm in Vuwani where voter turnout has been, as expected, significantly lower.
Residents here protested against the Municipal Demarcation Board's decision to incorporate them, along with Malamulele, in a new stand-alone municipality.
Chief Livhuwani Matsila from Ha-Matsila village in Vuwani said they've had about 21 people at a voting station where over 1000 registered voters were expected.
Community members, who decided not to vote, have gathered in the area for a local soccer tournament.
Residents said they would rather attend the soccer match in silent protest rather than voting for a municipality they do not want to be part of.
