Joe Mafela showed no signs of slowing down

The African National Congress (ANC) has expressed sadness at the passing of legendary actor Joe Mafela.
The actor, songwriter, film director and producer died in a car accident on the M1 in Johannesburg on Saturday night. The ANC has labelled him as "an entertainer who showed no signs of slowing down".
"Mafela has been in the entertainment industry for years and has continued to excel without showing any signs of slowing down," the ANC says.
Mafela was also an international acclaimed songwriter, best-known for his track 'Shebeleza', which was used as the theme song for the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.

"As we mourn his passing, the African National Congress sends its sincere condolences to the Mafela family. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to his colleagues in the industry and all South Africans at large," the party says.
No funeral arrangements have been made public.
