Maimane: It’s been a tough year for DA
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Democratic
Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane has disputed the results of a recent poll by
Institute of Race Relations (IRR) which shows that the party’s support is on
the decline.
Maimane has described the results as “fundamentally incorrect”.
According to the poll, the DA’s voter support has decreased by 5% since September of this year.
The DA support stands at 18% , down from 22% in September, according to IRR.
Maimane says he can comfortably state the party support is on the increase.

“If you look at the real elections results, by elections, the DA has been growing in all by elections it has been taking part in,” says Maimane.
He adds the DA conducts its own polling system that shows that the DA support has been growing in new communities.
Maimane does however admit that it has been a tough year for the DA.
“Its been tough because globally the world has been facing stress for parties like ours that stands for all South Africans, all races, face the pressure against populists.”
