The decision taken is linked to the dealings of On Point Engineering, which has ties with Malema's family Trust.

AfriForum says On Point Engineering was appointed by the Limpopo Transport Department to assist with infrastructure development, maintenance and planning and in doing so, received bribes from successful tenders.

Advocate Gerrie Nel, will head the private prosecution against Malema.

Nel says they have written to the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), after the case was struck off the roll in 2015.

"Because of the NPA's failure to act further, on 19 March 2018 we sent a letter to the NPA in which we demanded the reinstatement of the prosecution."

AfriForum says the NPA subsequently wrote back to them.

"The NPA wrote back to us informing us that the decision to reinstate charges against Malema is currently being considered."

"The NPA says a final decision will be taken by August 2018," adds Nel.

Meanwhile Malema has responded to AfriForum's decision on twitter.
