Alleged Joburg drug dealer dies after swallowing drugs

Independent Police Investigations Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Grace Langa says they are investigating the circumstances around the death.
A suspected drug dealer has died after allegedly swallowing drugs when JMPD officers approached him on Tuesday.
It is understood that officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked along Selby Road in Johannesburg, and the occupant noticed the police and drove off.
Police gave chase and managed to arrest the suspect who was found in possession of drugs in his car.
Independent Police Investigations Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Grace Langa says they are investigating the circumstances around the death.
"The suspect said he was selling drugs with his brother, and they went to the alleged brother's store and upon seeing the police the brother ran away and swallowed drugs that were in his pocket and he suddenly collapsed and was declared dead by paramedics,” says Langa.
The other suspect is in police custody.
Both suspects are Nigerian nationals.
