ANC members fingered in state capture ‘already appearing’ at integrity commission
The ANC says its members who have been implicated in the state capture report have already begun appearing before the party's integrity commission.
The party's high-ranking officials were mentioned in the Zondo commission report on various allegations of wrongdoing.
Briefing the media at Luthuli House on Wednesday, party spokesperson Pule Mabe said the party's national executive committee has adopted an immediate action plan to respond to the findings of the commission.
"We have encouraged some of our leaders to voluntarily appear before the integrity commission, some have already begun to appear. ANC leaders are disciplined, and the expectation is that they will do the right thing.
"When individuals decide to do things differently, we will deal with those issues at that time. At all times we will do the things necessary to protect the image and the integrity of the ANC."
Meanwhile, ANC NEC member Zizi Kodwa says in the event that President Cyril Ramaphosa is charged over the Phala Phala Farm scandal, he will have to step aside.
"We are confident in Ramaphosa's leadership if the information before the police is converted to evidence by the NPA then the laws of the ANC will apply, many leaders of the ANC have faced many challenges. Ramaphosa remains the president of the ANC."
