The price of both grades of petrol will increase by R1,21 cents per litre, while the diesel price will be hiked by between R1,06 and R1,19 per litre.

Illuminating Paraffin will increase by 85 cents at the retail level, and LP gas will increase by 41 cents per kilogram.

Departmental spokesperson Robert Maake said the increase is due to the weaker rand against the US dollar and higher average oil prices.

"The slate levy remains unchanged at 0 cents per litre. Transnet pipeline has decommissioned the Kroonstad pipeline from December 2023, affecting fuel transport in four district zones".

This is the second consecutive month the price of fuel has been increased.
