Police Minister Bheki Cele paid a visit to a police officer who was shot and injured while on patrol on the N12 earlier this week.

Constable Vusi Nhlapho and Warrant Officer Mokgadi Joseas Mpepe were both shot by unknown suspects on Monday evening.
Nhlapho was found lying unconscious along the highway between Delmas and Daveyton, while Mpepe was killed in the shooting.
Earlier on Friday Cele, together with the police top brass, visited Mpepe’s family in Tembisa.

"Mpepe was attached to the flying squad, we have deployed them to patrol our national roads to deal with hijackings," said Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela.
