Chiloane made the announcement during his visit to the school and family of a 17-year-old Palesa Malatji from Ntsako Secondary School on Monday morning.

The grade 12 pupil was brutally raped and murdered after attending extra classes on Thursday afternoon.

Malatji's body was found on Friday next to Echibini Secondary School in Soshanguve.

Pupils from various schools gathered at the school on Monday morning to demand justice for Malatji.

Chiloane vowed to deploy security officials to schools around the township.

"As of tomorrow (Tuesday), we are going to have security in schools. That is to make sure that when you are in school you also feel safe. We have spoken with the premier's wardens that after school they can go with the pupils, especially those that take after-school classes.

"From tomorrow (Tuesday) you will be accompanied by patrollers to go home so that is to make sure that all of you are safe. The police have committed full-time visibility at schools from now on."

He told pupils that the provincial government is doing everything in its power to improve safety for pupils in the area.

"Remember you are the future, remember we rely on you to take our country forward, so we are doing our best so that you get the future education you deserve. That is why we are investing so much in you for you to take that opportunity. That's why, when we move forward, all the schools, especially the high schools in Soshanguve, will be given proper support and security to ensure that all the learners are safe."
