City Power on track to restore Eldorado Park electricity by end of Wednesday

City Power says technicians are working to restore electricity supply to Eldorado Park by the end of Wednesday.
This is after a substation caught fire on Friday, leaving hundreds of people without power over Easter weekend.
Spokesperson Isaac Mangena says the teams are going through the network to ensure that the infrastructure is intact and ready for the load.
“We had several incidents of vandalism happening around Eldos substation which may affect restoration in some areas. If all goes according to plan, we should start restoring gradually all the customers that were affected by the fire at the substation from 11 am.
“This includes customers across Eldorado Park, Devland, Freedom Park, Klipspruit. We are hoping all customers will be restored by the end of the day.”
He adds that a second standby transformer will also be used for alternative supply.
“More work will continue to finalise the laying of the cables at the substation. While rain threatened to disrupt most of the work at the substation, the teams soldiered on and worked around the clock to ensure that power is restored on Wednesday as planned.”
