Delays at Joburg, Ekurhuleni licence testing centres

A technical glitch has led to severe delays at licensing centres in Gauteng.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) says the machines used for eye tests are offline.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says the Live Enrolment Unit which are used for eye testing when motorists want to apply for a learner licence, driver licence or to renew their licences is offline at all testing stations in Joburg and Ekurhuleni.
More arrests at Langlaagte licencing centre
"The machines are not functioning optimally due to network problems. Calls have been logged for various Licensing Centres around Joburg and the technicians are working tirelessly to resolve the problem."
He says it's a central system and therefore affects all the testing stations.
Langlaagte licencing Department remains closed
"This has resulted in queues moving very slowly. Officials at the centres are doing their best to provide services to customers and are putting more effort in dealing with the backlog caused."
