Updated | By Emile Pienaar
The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development says South Africa has made great progress in containing the outbreaks of Foot and Mouth disease.
The country has been plagued by the disease since 2021.
The department says only the Free State and KwaZulu Natal have unresolved outbreaks.
Departmental spokesperson Reggie Ngcobo says they have resolved the cases in other provinces with the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Ngcobo says there is however still some risk areas.
"In KZN and the Free state provinces there are some areas and farms that are under restriction. Animals must not be moved from these areas, however some districts of these provinces have not been affected and can also be considered as FMD free areas".
