Eskom board 'embarking on cleaning spree'
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Eskom says its newly appointed board is embarking on a cleaning spree, asking those implicated in corruption to tender their resignations.
The thirteen-member board started their first day at the power parastatal on Monday, with two senior officials tendering their resignation on Tuesday.
Acting head of Group Capital, Prish Govender, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Anoj Singh, have parted ways with the power utility.
Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says the board deserves praise for its efforts in rooting out of corruption.

"You would remember the statement issued by the deputy president (Cyril Ramaphosa) that the new Eskom board has to move with speed in terms of dealing with people who are implicated in wrongdoing or allegations of corruption and state capture."
Ramaphosa vowed a turnaround following threats to Eskom's liquidity, which could cripple the economy.

"So, people who were implicated or some of them who are on suspension now, obviously they will have their meetings with the CEO and board to see where they stand," says Phasiwe.
