Ex-employee nabbed for murder of Limpopo hotel owner, nephew

Limpopo police have made a breakthrough in the house robbery and double murder of a Hotel owner and her nephew in Orighstad outside Burgersfort.

The burnt bodies of Angela Claasen (73) and nephew Hennie Classen (77) were found at the establishment on 4 June.


A 30-year-old man, who is a former employee at the hotel, has been arrested in connection with the double murder.


Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect was arrested in Tembisa.


"The team followed information which led to the arrest of the suspect in the early hours of today, 14 June at about 01:00 at his hideout in Tembisa, Gauteng. The suspect is an ex-employee at the hotel and was positively linked to the incident."


“The suspect is expected to appear soon before the Prakteseer Magistrate's Court facing charges of house robbery,  two counts of murder and arson.”
