Fifth suspect in R400m drug bust on N1 ‘tried to flee the country’

A fifth suspect in the R400 million drug bust in the N1 in Centurion attempted to flee South Africa before his arrest.
Tenikaitis Valdas (57) was arrested at OR Tambo while boarding a flight to Paris on 6 June.
Valdas' arrest will now bring to five the total number of suspects who have been linked to the drug bust.
They are all linked to the discovery of 800kg of compressed pure cocaine in a boat on the N1 earlier this month.

They will be facing charges of dealing with drugs.
Three of the suspects appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday for transporting the drugs between Cape Town and Pretoria.
The case has been remanded to Thursday where all five will make an appearance together.
