Joburg hit by massive power outage

A massive power outage hit several suburbs in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon.
The blackout affected especially the central and northern suburbs of the city. including Midrand, Sandton and Randburg.
City Power said the outage was due to the trip on Eskom line in the north that was undergoing planned maintenance, which affected several of its substations.

At least 20 substations were affected, with the utility saying each services at least 10 suburbs.
City Power said it was working closely with Eskom to try and restore the electricity but no estimated time of restoration was available.
NOTICE: Eskom is aware of a major power outage that affects large parts of Midrand, Sandton and several areas in the Northern suburbs of Joburg. Eskom technicians are on site to determine the cause of the outage. No estimated time of restoration at this stage. More info to follow

UPDATE: City Power is currently affected by Eskom's loss of supply to Lipini substation and Graighall substation. Resulting in a total loss of supply at Delta substation, A whole of Randburg and Midrand suburbs are affected. Eskom is busy with restoration.^DR
