Kidnapped Mpumalanga man rescued, five suspects nabbed

Police in Mpumalanga have rescued a man in Leandra after a week-long ordeal at the hands of his kidnappers.

The 25-year-old was found unharmed at a house in Leandra on Saturday.
A police search and rescue unit found the victim and three suspects in nearby Devon.
Two more suspects were also arrested in Gauteng for demanding a ransom for his release.
National police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the suspects were found in possession of a firearm, ammunition, multiple cellphones, and sim cards.
"The suspects are expected to appear in court soon on charges of kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as well as extortion."
