Klarinet murders – mom applies for bail
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
A 24-year-old Mpumalanga mother accused of murdering her four children begun her bail application at the Witbank Magistrates on Thursday.

Zinhle Maditla, who resides in Klarinet, is facing four counts of premeditated murder.
She is accused of poisoning 8-year-old Minenhle, 6-year-old Blessing, 4-year-old Shanique and 11-month-old baby Ettiene on New Year’s Eve.
Maditla, who subsequently went out with one of her neighbours, then allegedly wrapped her children in blankets before calling family members to view the bodies.

She later handed herself to the police.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Mpumalanga, Monica Nyuswa, says a toxicology report shows the children were poisoned using Terbufos pesticide.
"During her last appearance, the toxicology was received and it is positive that poison was used during the committing of the offence. Thereafter the accused indicated that she wanted to apply for bail."
The case was postponed to May 29 for the continuation of the bail application.
