Residents of Klipspruit West are protesting over the appointment of a black principal at the local high school.
Community members took to the streets early this morning, blocking roads with burning tyres and debris.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says a Putco bus has also been used to block roads.
"The bus has been used to block the road and we don't know where the driver has gone to."
