"Those who have occupied land or houses illegally, will be evicted," says new Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Lebogang Maile.
Maile made the remarks during a debate on Premier David Makhura’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) in the Gauteng legislature on Thursday.
Makhura delivered the address in Soweto on Monday.

"We must condemn the EFF for exploiting the genuine concerns of our people, by promoting illegal land occupations," Maile said.
The EFF has at various points encouraged its members to occupy land, including in Alexandra.
Last month, the Democratic Alliance (DA) and African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg pointed the finger at each other after some 80 homes were demolished by the Red Ants in the township, north of the city.
The demolitions of the structures, which the city claimed were erected illegally along the banks of the Jukskei River, left hundreds of people homeless.
