Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Constitutional Court is hearing opposition parties' bid to have President Jacob Zuma impeached.

The Economic Freedom Fighters, along with the UDM and Cope, brought the application against National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete and Zuma.
They believe Parliament failed to hold the president accountable.

This follows the 2016 Nkandla judgement.
On 31 May last year, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng found that the president had failed to uphold, defend and respect the Constitution by failing to implement the remedial action as outlined by then Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela.
Mogoeng said that if compliance with the public protector's remedial action were optional, then very few would allow it to have any effect.
Madonsela found that President Zuma personally benefitted from the upgrades at his private home.
