Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni, and Gauteng Premier, David Makhura are at each other's throats on Twitter over the contentious e-tolls issue.

On Monday, Makhura delivered his State of the Province Adress (Sopa) and said his government remains "determined to ensure that e-tolls are not part of the future of our province.

"We anxiously await the finalisation of details by the national government on the mechanics of settling the debt," said Makhura.

However, Mboweni took to Twitter to say that the user-pay model remains, and calling the Premier to order.

Makhura did not take kindly to the comments, Tweeting that he has referred the matter to the Presidency.
